Paul Hayden Kirk (1914-1995) was a renowned local architect who played a prominent role in pioneering modernist design in the Pacific Northwest.
Our goal in the remodel of this historic Mercer Island home was to honor the spirit of Kirk’s vision while reorganizing the plan and updating the finishes to accommodate an active family of four.
A new stair was installed to link the upper living areas to a previously unfinished basement that now functions as a playroom.
